I’ll purchase any of Goddard’s books that take place in Lays of the Hearth-Fire—the world and characters are such a cozy place <3 All 36 pages came printed perfectly and shipped quickly! 10/10

Kip's islander clothing has fascinated me since I first read hands of the emperor, so I was so thrilled to see a story dedicated to it. I am very pleased with this story and was happy to learn more about Feonie too
The book looks great and was a very fun read! Sadly, the box that this arrived in was badly damaged as were several of the other books in the order. I did get replacements with no problems, but it was still upsetting. Though I'm not sure where the damage occurred during shipping, whether it was over-seas or once it was in the States.
It was good, just really short. I felt it could have been more detailed.
Absolutely stellar, would gladly read a whole novel about Feonie and her work.
Very fun, I wasn't expecting to be very entertained by this one (in comparison to the other short stories) but I found myself longing for more after I finished it.
Another excellent addition to the series!
A nice short story
I re-read this regularly because it's such a neat perspective on the wider universe of the stories.
A really touching, occasionally funny story about a young woman who finds her calling in a world of magic, court politics, and exquisite fashion. A worthy addition to Goddard's imperial fantasy.
I enjoyed the coloring in of a minor character. A differing viewpoint.

Slots in beautifully as another side character gets her time to shine. I hope we get further looks at Feonie (and her possible romance), even if Cliopher is no longer Vizeroy.
Such a delightful little story!
I devour anything by this woman. Her ability to connect to characters' emotions is nothing short of magic!
Love how all the short stories provide background and new perspectives to the main stories. I'll read anything by Victoria Goddard! I'd rank this at a 5, except that the larger books are so rich and deep - like comparing a little appetizer bite to a multi course feast. The world building is amazing. The humanity and kindness of the characters are heartwarming (but never cloying) - I want to live in that universe.
Here is yet another lovely companion novelette to The Hands of the Emperor and At the Feet of the Sun. (Once again: don’t read any of them without reading the novels!) I loved Féonie’s voice, and how the author took a minor character from THOTE and made her shine. “Féonie reminded herself that she was dauntless.” And so she is. It was wonderful to see the Fire Dance together with Féonie, and see Kip and His Radiancy through her eyes. The most precious thing of all, of course, is the story of how Kip’s Islander finery for the big ceremony came to be. The thing to do now is to patiently wait for Book 3… and read all the other books set in Nine Worlds :)
An insightful vignette into one of the supporting characters and it gave some great insight into other supporting characters. Trying to not spoil anything, but it was a delightful read.
It is fun to learn more about the people we have met briefly, and most interesting to gain more perspectives on the central characters and how their relationships are seen by other people.
This short story is a very funny little addition to the Lays of the Hearthfire ! It was intersting to know the point of view of Cliopher's costumier, and to see how the changes he brought to the government affected her daily life and her family's.
Just a fun and comforting read in a favorite universe! Highly recommend.
